Has just started following Carlisle United on Twitter - @nickyadams10

Played 45 games for Northampton last season, would be an excellent addition for us...

Yes he was at QOS. Scored a lot of goals a couple of seasons back before getting snapped up by Rangers. If he could rediscover his QOS form then he would be a very good signing.... hasn't played that often for Rangers though.

Doubtful we'd he able to afford anyone that's been at Rangers, even when they were in Scots league 2 they were paying stupid amounts. I'd guess a striker that scored 40 goals in a season would've signed for a few grand a week.

Yes true... but he hasn't figured much since he signed so his stock has fallen. We could certainly offer him more than most Scottish clubs at the lower end of the SPL top of the championship in terms of wages. There might be interest from some bigger Scottish or English teams though so it's probably a long shot.

Very surprised if he is signing. He only joined Northampton last year on a three year deal. Either weve splashed the cash or hes been released after only a year which is a bit worrying considering the same happened at Bury the year before. He would definately be a great addition however.

Wonder if he edits his own wikipedia page?

"On 2 September 2008, Adams scored his first goal in a Football League Trophy, as Leicester City beat Hartlepool United. Soon after, his playing time at Leicester City is soon reduced and need to join a club on loan to get regular first-team football. The next season, Adams forms at Leicester City didn't produced well, like he did at Bury, as he used more often on the bench."

Earlier today Andy Halls Twitter had a tweet on it from him saying it was a busy morning at BP with what appeared to be a "live pic" [ not a library one } of a press conference taking place by the tunnel at BP the tweet has now disappeared.

Make of that what you will !!

Usually when they are outside like that a new signing is scheduled to be standing there with a club shirt on or holding a scarf above their head.

Looking at it that may have been where i saw it and not on AH.s account

But its very strange that they looked to be within a few minutes of an announcement and then nothing not even from Jon Colmean who is usually well on top of stuff like this.

From a Northampton fan on another forum.

His delivery from wide areas is top notch, but what struck me most was his work rate. The bloke never stops chasing and harrying defenders.

Don't think people actually appreciate how good a singing this is...

He was a regular in a side that dominated the league and, from reading their forum, their fans are gutted to see him leave.

He's been promoted from League 2 twice in the last 3 seasons, exactly the mentality we need.

Very, very impressive stuff this from Curle and Dykes. Exciting times.

I'm impressed with this signing. I thought he looked a good player at Bury and was not surprised he was snapped up by Leicester or some club higher up the league ladder. I actually wanted us to sign him when he left Leicester.

Adams, who arrived at Sixfields a year ago from Bury, has made the move to be nearer his north west based family.

"We wish Nicky well," said manager Rob Page.

"He had already requested the opportunity to move back nearer to his family before my arrival and after further discussion we felt it was the right thing."

That's from the Northampton official website, so location has helped us this time round.

Curle says on the official site that we tried to get him in January.

I wonder where we'd have finished if we'd signed Adams and Liddle in January.

They seem to be grumbling about the distance excuse - lives in Bolton apparently, takes 1 hr 45 min to Carlisle according to Google Maps, Northampton is about 2 and a half hours from there, but that's going through Birmingham or on the toll road.

Does seem slightly odd, to be fair to the Northampton fans, to live in Bolton, say you want to be nearer to your family and then sign for Carlisle a division lower. Still hardly on his doorstep, even though a touch better than Northampton.

Chances are it's not as simple as just the distance being slightly less.

We've got players like Jabo who we know don't live locally and travel up. Adams could live in Bolton, Preston or anywhere round there with his family now and just nip up the M6 for a bit to get to training.
