David Hopkin will be 48 next month. Hardly young for a manager. He's even older than the England manager.

With the best will in the world, what do EWM know about recruiting football staff? David Holdsworth's CV is patchy at best and you have to question why he is doing what he is said to be.

Strange one this it's not like he has a track record of proven success in the lower leagues as a DOF!

Why spend the money on him & why not trust JS & his team to do it? I'm sure Sheridan isn't happy about it.

Maybe this is why we're struggling for signings both disagreeing on what & who to sign?!

It is time that EWM stepped up and stated exactly what their intentions are the vagueness has gone on far to long.

We have a manager, a director of football and no players.

He cannot be much cop, we should have spent the money on players instead as that is what will bring us success and not another 'suit' that does sod all.

A question was asked about David Holdsworth's role at the club. Billy explained he was helping John Sheridan with recruitment, thanks to his contacts within the game, to allow the manager to concentrate on developing his squad. He'd confirmed with JS that all players signed to date were targets of the manager. Billy said EWM had offered to help the club in football and commercial areas. He accepted that DH had connections with EWM.

So Holdsworth's helping with recruitment but all players we've got in so far were the manager's signings.

More bullsh1t from them as usual. They couldn't ly straight in their beds

I asked a Lincoln fan about Holdsworth and he said if he has any influence in transfers then prepare for a relegation battle.

What i.d like to know is whats his relationship with Day/EWM and how did that come about as-far-as I can see we.re their only footballing interest.

Baffling move. Not sure how I feel but Sheridan really should be doing the things a director of football should at this level. Waste of a wage possibly too.

The recruitment this year hasn't exactly been spectacular. We're going into the first game of the season with everyone knowing we're a couple of players short. Wonderful stuff.

After all the rumours and denials is finally out in open. Any bets on his brother ex player and until recently part owner of Bolton, taking over under the EWM umbrella at some point if it meant the removal of the three amigos I'd go for that. Can only hope.

Will never happen again with local owners because they wont invest money, but want to be seen as "on the board".
To join the board it must be a pre requisit that an investment of 50k to be put in.

You could add that the Gretna Connection paid for most of a 25% chunk of CUFC

I don't think it was Keith Curle's job to balance the books unless I've missed something.

But according to Clibbens hes working for and being paid by the club so why would he be criticising Clibbens? Unless of course someones being disingenuous somewhere.

The Club overspent with generous incentive based contracts. Holdsworth has come in and said that he doesn't like these contracts and said some players were getting more than they were worth. Agreed it wasn't Curle's job to oversee his own spending but he should have been better at getting value for money. Clibbens gets just as much criticism for not controlling what Curle was spending. Holdsworth being paid by the club doesn't affect anything. EWM are of the view that the Club's finances were out of control because of overspending on players. Holdsworth is there to put that right.
