At the battery day musk was saying the latest batteries have brought charging times down from 4 hours to 40 minutes so presumably that will continue to improve.
The land cruisers the UN uses have solar panels in the roof which charge batteries. It only gives a small range and it's to supplement the diesel engine, so you don't get stranded if you run out of fuel. But I think that technology will be the way forward.
But what to do about lithium? There isn't enough to sustain car production

That's gambling, not investing. You should never be over exposed to only one industry or setting like that.

Global index tracker funds, that's how you invest. While everyone else is running around trying to beat the market, nearly all of them will lose over time, to say nothing of the opportunity cost of all that time wasted trying to do research and figure out which company to gamble their money on. Set up a direct debit to a tracker fund so you can just fire and forget. The secret of investing is to learn patience. You need to be invested long term for the magic of compounding to do it's thing, those who are constantly buying and selling will rarely outperform the market in the long term.
