Very strong rumours that elite football is to be suspended Imminently - check Twitter.

Dowden has a meeting with the FA on Wednesday.

If you’re a praying type of a person I’d be doing that tonight.

After every single game we played in September and October you predicted it would be our last game because that was what Grimsby's chairman wanted.

Mystic Meg you are not.

Should have been, a lot more than Grimsby were calling it, and look at the finances. The decision to carry on may be the worst decision made, they made it though so have to live with it. I don’t think we’ve seen the full financial trouble clubs are in.

As for this one, time will tell. but very strong rumours a suspension is near.

I wouldn't be surprised, things will be moving fast this week. It'll probably be a full lockdown by Xmas the way its going. :(

Problem is Wales and London.

Wales wants to stop all sport for 6 weeks and the government wants to stop all sport in tier 4.

But I’m with Nobby a full lockdown will be soon anyway.

Just typed in ‘elite sport suspended’ on twitter. Nothing.

The only mention is the league cup final being put back a couple of months for a better chance of a larger crowd.

Edit:
Now just searched “Dowden meeting FA” on twitter. Only thing that comes up is a tweet from Richard Mullen to Stan Collymore. Any other tweets are from June.

Dowdens meeting Wednesday is known - read today’s guardian or the telegraph or follow @telefootball.

Elite football suspension, I’ll guess we will see on Wednesday. The carabao cup has been moved to April, for supposedly more supporters can go, but maybe they already know something will be cancelled - it’s odd moving it two days before champions league semis.

There’ll be pospoments anyway.

From what I can make out those articles are talking about an increase in postponements - fair enough - as cases rise rather than just knocking the whole lot on the head.

Switch on radio now!

Discussing expected multiple postponements and suspension rumours.

As I said above issue is with Wales and London. A lot of Sides not happy/uncomfortable going into London tier4 from outside.

Its expected Boxing Day and new year to go ahead, as games are local, then a decision afterwards.

Yes, the bottom two - top about the proposed meeting and the threat to elite sport.

There’ll be many postponements, I imagine, if there’s no suspension.

Problem as well with hotels in tier 4 as the majority will close regardless and the likelihood of more places being put in it.

Games Boxing Day/New Years should be fine but after anyone’s guess.

If professional football is cancelled, players will just organise orgies which will make the R rate increase.
They are as well being kept occupied.

Sunderland in the middle of a postponement spell after an outbreak at the club. Originated from the bus driver on the way to Lincoln a couple of weeks ago apparently - you couldn’t make it up.

Half a dozen FL clubs have cases at the minute and have been forced to postpone games, more to follow no doubt.

If the seasons cancelled we may get promoted.

Carrying on will be the worst decision made, for lower league football.

We won’t get promoted based on 19 games surely. We’re not even half way through the season. I think if this season does get cancelled it would be null and void if anything with less than half the games played.

I know the idea of football being cancelled is all your wet dreams rolled into one, but 99% of the rest of football fans want it to carry on. People actually like watching it, even if it has to be with a muzzle on or via ifollow.

You say couple of weeks mmmm like you’re mr know it all who knows more than the average bloke, but you’ve been completely wrong all season. This may be the first time you’re right, but even now you may only be half, no quarter right.

Of course football fans want it to continue. I do but I also want it to continue for years after.

Between football owners it’s a different story and the decision to continue may be the worst decision ever. The reason it didn’t get cancelled was teams at lower level were/are promised money and every week we’re told it was forthcoming. They got advances on tv etc to tide them over and now the pittance by the premier league.

There’s more money on offer in terms of loans from the EFL but that’s kicking the can to another day as it needs repayed, it’s not free.

I know that Andrew. They've handled the whole thing very badly was my point.

I know people who are scared to leave the house because of the way things have been communicated from the government, either scaring the [censored] out of everybody or laughing and joking for people to go the pub and go for a meal. No consistency.

They don't care about us really, it is all about money. I'm not fooled by the bull shit. What about the country's mental health?

They surely can’t suspend at this late stage, Boxing Day and New Years games should be fine as they are local.

Although things can change daily. Still very strong rumours of the short suspension in the papers, bbc text, social media this morning.

I think it’s inevitable that we will move up tiers soon.

Radio this morning: Players want more testing, teams advised against stating in tier 4 areas but the EFL/Prem want to continue until the government say no. FA/PFA very uneasy.

Again some sides want a suspension and others don’t - who do you go with?

I don’t want it suspended, even if there are no fans.

This is the best chance we have of promotion and I’m pretty sure if it got suspended then ultimately cancelled with less than half the games played the season would end up void.

Surely no Carlisle United fan even including Mullen would want that.

I don’t want it cancelled.

I do worry about the future of lower league football though and think, in hindsight, restarting was the wrong decision.

No one could foresee us still being in this position now when the season started. We expected a lot more supporters in. Having 2000 only costs clubs more money, but has to be done really to show we can hold more “safely”.

In the short term they need to sort testing out. It was promised in the EFL but isn’t happening at a lot of clubs.
