This must be one of the tallest squads we have ever had...

Good player btw ?

Some signing this, very good at this level. Him and Hayden will be some partnership.

Bound to be better than McDonald surely.

Hopefully better than the last Bennett we had.

But really this should be a good signing. A player we’d probably not be able to attract if we weren’t so high up in the table.

He's right footed so more likely to be Hayden's replacement than McDonald's.

Think he’s played right back in the past if I remember rightly.

Joe Riley was likely brought in as right back cover, but now he’s an established fixture in the midfield, we probably did need someone else who can cover right back should anything happen to Tanner.

Hayden played on the left of the back four when partnered with hunt last season.

Signing such an obvious Hayden replacement raises the question of whether Hayden's transfer has already been arranged for the next transfer window.

Not sure if you’ve read the article but Bennett’s contract only lasts till January

Makes perfect sense to sign him until January initially.

Every signings a gamble and it gives us a chance to see how he fits in with the squad and what his form's like.

If he doesn't fit in we can look elsewhere and we haven't spunked our cash into the air Curle-style.

Likewise, if Hayden's transfer falls through / doesn't happen we can see where the dice land. If Hayden does depart we have a ready made replacement in the building already.

It's a no brainer.

I suspect the move is a response to Macdonald mistakes and poor passing while Max Hunt has not shown he can, at the moment, take on a more permanent place in the starting team. Beech has identified the weakness and has determined to respond with the support of the Board following the strong start.

He’ll be on a fair wage. Hardly the move of a cash strapped club. The horsemen aren’t clearly worried about EWM demanding their money back or we’re flush with transfer cash

A good opportunity for him and the team, a proven CB who can push McDonald and Hunt to see who's best alongside Aaron. And also gets him in the shop window for January if he doesn't want to stay.

In normal times with our budget we wouldn’t have a cat in hell’s chance of signing a player of his quality

His performance yesterday was excellent - mobile, fast, good header and confident, with just the right amount of aggression (note when he confronted their players after a bad tackle). If we can keep him for the rest of the season it would be a big bonus.

Won't even be fully fit either

That’s a good defence now with the goalie, Tanner and Anderton playing a lot better of late.

Agree Nobby but as ever January will be telling. Let's hope we can sign him to season end at least before too long (and JJ can stay season). Plus hopefully we don't sell anyone else for a bag of shirts or two. Tanner is too good for L2. If we can get him into second half still with us, hopefully he'll be in L1 with us.
