0-0 HT.

Toure has hit the bar and post. He really should've scored when he was through 1v1 though that's 2 he's missed in similar positions.

Really need that first goal, by far the better team but it's one of those games that I can see them sneaking a goal late in the 2nd half and snatching a 1-0 win.

This is how I see it. If we get the first goal we’ll win easily by a few goals. If they get the first they’ll continue to frustrate and ride their luck and we won’t score if we play till Saturday.

I thought Oldham had scored, given how unenthusiastically JP commentated on it - like a man who'd dropped a quid down a drain

This is easily the best side we’ve had since we dropped back to tinpot 2, easily. Every player has a part to play, no passengers.

A shame the season might be suspended soon and no one can go and see it.

Very poor second half unfortunately, Toure's worst game for us and we should have been out of sight by HT.

We'll take the positives in that we could have easily come away with nothing given the chances we wasted.

Not one of Kayode's better games today but was up against a good centre half in Piergianni, he actually got more joy when he was moved out wide.

Toure needs to be careful that he doesn't become a Nathan Thomas. Clearly the most talented / natural footballer in the squad but looked really off it tonight and wasn't great at the weekend. The two 1v1s he missed against Port Vale and Oldham probably tell you why he's with us this season!

Still a fantastic player but has the potential to be very frustrating.

Two points dropped today against a poor Oldham team. It's not a disaster but being wasteful in front of goal and conceding a poor goal is not good enough.

It should serve as a lesson that fluster, bluster and aimlessly kicking are no substitute for technical ability and composure.

We also have the prime example of what Mellish costs us as a team in the goal we conceded. A positionally aware player would've been dropping back filling-in in front of the back four preventing that pass coming through (especially at 1-0 up away from home) Mellish was on his heels, ball watching. Poor.

Also poor is the manager who substituted every midfielder apart from Mellish, was slow in taking Toure off and left Alessandra on even though he was physically spent.

Onwards and upwards, I expect to see a marked improvement on Saturday.

It’s not just Toure though is it. Reilly and Riley both missed 1 v 1 sitters on Saturday, Ethan Walker missed one at Scunthorpe, Kayode missed a 1 v 1 against Barrow.

Way more positives than negatives, so we can’t complain too much. But it’s frustrating as we’d probably be top if we’d taken just the simple chances in games.

I would say Kayode is more frustrating. He was useless and gave possession away everytime he had the ball.
He offered nothing tonight, should have been subbed on the hour mark.

I "targeted" the facts which cost us two points today. Simple as that.

The only agenda is wanting us to be long term successful and win football matches playing actual football. Not just running around like headless chickens kicking every blade of grass.

I think questions would be asked if he’d taken off a player who’d scored 5 goals in the previous 4 games. Plus Guy looked to be injured according to the commentary.

No, DHS.

If you actually bother to read my post, it criticizes Mellish for his lack of awareness and for being on his heels at a critical time not protecting our back four.

The fluster and bluster sentence was aimed at the whole team.

I understand perfectly Pep, however if fluster and bluster produces more attempts on goal, more chances created and 10 points out of every 12 from now until the end of the

season, I'll settle for that.

In terms of today's game, against a poor side, all it got us was a draw.

All the other statistics are meaningless apart from one goal each and one point.

With just a tiny bit more football and a touch less frenzy it would've been all three.

He missed one against Scunthorpe too. Shooting practice required for our strikers. We need to be way better in converting 8 goals in 7 games does not reflect the glut of chances we've created.

Don't want to be negative though because we played brilliantly in that first half and 0-2 at half time would not have flattered us.

Reckon Grimsby away is going to be difficult they're beat Orient and Cheltenham away recently.

All good though, we've nothing to gear and the main thing is that we keep improving. This season is already a breath of fresh air after that car crash of a one with Presley last year.

A) Mellish isn’t in the team as a defensive midfielder that’s guy or Furmans job, yes he needs to help out but he’s not solely responsible
B) McDonald dives in like a lunatic not idea what he’s trying to do, just stand up and he would’ve turned into him
C) Mellish has been out match winner in 2 out of the last 3 wins plus a great performance on Saturday

Really enjoyed the game and good to be actually really looking forward to a match again.
How nice is to be watching the game with a big smile on your face!
Some really good stuff again, particularly 1st half. Carlisle can now come at teams from all angles. Play short and into feet. Long and over the top. Down the sides and through the middle. Lots of variation. The full backs get involved and the front 3 stretch the defence all over the place.
And across the whole side the work rate, intensity, tackling and pressing is superb. Finally we have the game Pressley talked so often about.
8 goals from 7 games suggests maybe the front 3, as well as they have played, are short of an out and out goalscorer at the moment.
At the back Farman and MacDonald, for me, still need to improve and if Hayden is out for any period we'd struggle there.
What I've really noticed as Beech's team and style of play has taken shape is how that classic number 10 role is almost becoming redundant in the modern 433. Quick, wide players are the order of the day and that creativity normally offered by a number 10, seems to have moved back 20 or so yards and begins centrally in midfield.
Look at the impact of Guy\Mellish\Riley on the season so far. All coming from deeper with no one really sitting off a number 9.
I still think there would have and should have been a place for him, but can see, to some extent, how Devitt doesn't fit into Beech's plans in this system.
Beech has mentioned Liverpool a few times and you can see how he is trying to get us playing in a similar style.
It's been great the past few games, hasn't it? Just need to start sticking a few away now.
Makes such a big difference to the week when the football's been good.

First game I've seen for a bit, and also really enjoyed it.
Far the better team, especially in the first half. So encouraging to see midfielders looking to play it on the deck and find our players, and they worked really hard and competed. Some of the back four still a bit hoofball, but hopefully will lessen as the games progress.
The downsides were a definite lack of flair, and a lack of a real goalscorer.
One thing that really stood out is how shit football is without fans. Thought it might be just the prem that looks souless but it was even more pronounced in L2.

First game I have watched this season. Excellent first half and game should have been over by H/T. Inevitably second half was nowhere near as good and whilst Oldham played better (and scored a decent goal, albeit helped by a mistake) we should have still won it comfortably.
Very impressed with some of the play. I'd say close to a promotion team and a couple of additions could see something very good happening. Credit to Beech and Holdsworth. Let's hope PD sees what can be done when the club is sensibly run. Salary caps in L1 and L2 give us a real chance to gan back up to Tier 2 if we can get out this year.
