Getting the right landlord/landlady is everything for this type of pub, once you've got them, you need to hang onto them.

Even with the pub being busy, decent food, good atmosphere that landlord ended up bankrupt.

Interesting

When you say emptied what were they bringing out ?

If it was the furniture, fixtures and fittings i.m afraid for me it only means one thing to me and that's not good news for any of you who drink there.

The f and f is an opportunity to make an easy 10k so unless you're selling the property for another use or just as land you'd leave it in place.

The fact that they've sitexted it makes it sound more like an alternative use job to me

Seems to be the way the big companies run their pubs. Get a landlord in, once things are going well they hike the rent, then the landlords either leave or can't make it pay and things go belly up.

Seems really stupid as you say but history repeats itself over and over.

Are you looking for a pub Mouldy ?

I know a very good broker/fixer 20 years experience with a proven record of finding the right pubs for people often with a lot less ingoings then the pubco were looking for.

The old landlady also pointed out the little matter of 60k business rates at the reiver, so with the rent that's 100k you need to cover before stuff like staff, insurance, cellar charges, heating, lighting etc No wonder people sell drugs, lot less overheads

I quite fancied running a pub when I was younger but there’s not the dedicated drinkers there used to be nowadays.

Too many clowns about on whizz, spice or whatever they take nowadays. You only have to walk down Botchergate late on a Saturday night / Sunday morning to see them.

Snuff's becoming trendy again. Know a couple of people who have recently started taking it.

I'm afraid taking snuff gets right up my nose.

Rather stick to movies.

Despite living close, and having hundreds of takeaways from thr Chinese next door, l’ve never been in!
Still reeling from the closure of The Enterprise, Gosling Bridge opening, and those [censored] at Morrison’s building over our tree swing.

Been down the shop and they have run out of tins of Fosters. Also out of bog roll so need to go to the pub for a shite and a few lagers.

Anyone know which ones have now closed because of the virus?

Pubs all closed, but found a nice little place, not far from home, The Summerhouse Inn. Small but quiet and cosy, beer quite cheap too.
