I knew he was bad for the club when we had a 3-0 defeat and he was talking about how pleased he was with the performance and how statistically we had played better in some areas. Statistics mean nothing if you can't turn them into results.

They beat Fulham U23 4-2.

Unsworth commented "The game provided 17-year-old centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite with his Everton debut after he joined the Blues from Carlisle United earlier this week.

“He did okay and there’s lots to work with,” said Unsworth.

“He’s a young kid and anybody playing alongside Morgan [Feeney] will be fine because I thought he was terrific tonight - a typical captain’s performance."

"If the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off."

I was told today that Jarrad has settled into his new life at Everton really well, has trained with the first team and also played in his first under 23 game. Part of this chat also included the fact DH, JN, AJ, SP have not been in touch to wish him well, say thanks or anything. I personally thinks that's very poor. I appreciate people on here say they have "sources" I assure you this came from the closest of sources to him, in fact, no one is closer !

Those three will be too busy counting the pound signs still I'll bet.

They say that most footballers are nothing but mercenaries but when you have owners who will sell you like a piece of meat then who can blame them.

Expected better of Anthony Joshua and Dean Henderson :-(

Joking apart, this seems to be a theme with the youth players, basically chased out the club by the money-grabbers. Tony Blair wanted to achieve a classless society, but I doubt he meant the lack of class our owners show.

What did he expect somebody from the club to go down and tuck him in every night? You could argue that maybe he should be getting in touch to say how he’s getting on.

Reet proper test at home tonight against top-of-the-table Chelsea, who have won eight and drawn six of their 14 games.

The more you look at this deal, the club have done really well to get this fee.
Leeds have just signed a current England u-20s player for free, rising to £1M on appearances, 30% sell on, and matching bids clause, and has played for the first team.
Of the three parties involved, I think Carlisle have come out best. Hope to be proved wrong when he goes on to play in the prem, but worry he would have been better going to a champoinship club, or stay where he was for a season or two.

Branthwaite is reported to be training with the Everton first team already. I can see him being included in match day squads and possibly subs bench before the end of the season.

That is correct but I understand that its more of an induction process thing than a sign that he.ll be in the squad next week.

Wonder if he played tonight? Everton just lost 4-0 at home to Swansea and someone called Liam Cullen got all 4 goals. Wonder if hes available on loan.

Wolves have signed a defender from Rochdale for a reported £1m. More or less same age and appearances as Branthwaite. But they’ve loaned him back.
