Do we know the details of the deal when we sold him? I've read on an Everton forum that it was £990,000. What are the add ons, how is it broken down?

I'm guessing that was the upfront amount then there's add ons. I mean three games for Everton and he's getting motm. I think it's reasonable to say he's potentially going to get a very big move somewhere else in the next few years of that level of progress continues, England is a real possibility too.

750k seems like absolutely nothing when you see how good he is in the premier league. On the first page of the thread CCU says start off at 5 million. That looks about right now.

The add ons may well top it up a fair bit, but the real £ signs will come if we have a sell on clause because if he carries on this rate of development one of the really big boys are going to pay top whack for him when you think what likes of Stones and Maguire have gone for in recent years. I hope we do, but wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t.

Being ripped off and selling him cheaply are two different things - Unfortunately the idiots in charge almost gave him away.

There were plenty on here who would have been happy for us to take £2.5m upfront, rather than £750k upfront and add-ons to take it well beyond the £2.5m. Instead, it's now looking a decent deal to me as we will probably hit most of those add-ons quite comfortably.

I don't think anyone could have imagined him progressing so quickly (and let's be honest here, it's pure luck that the circumstances with the pandemic and injuries have fallen the way they have) but fair play to the lad, took his chance brilliantly.

And yes, there is a sell-on, it's nonsense to suggest there might not be one as we've put one into pretty much every transfer we've done in the past two decades (we managed to get one into the Cosgrove deal ffs).

That felt really tinpot to me. We haven't retired so many legend's numbers, why would we for him? It's great that he's doing so well but retiring numbers of players who leave us to achieve something doesn't exactly feel like a club who are looking up in the world.

Retiring shirt numbers is a massive pile of American shite. Also incredibly short-sighted. In years to come players will be running around with four or five digits on their backs, or binary codes.

Had a look at an Everton forum, they rate him very highly. How many 18 year old central defenders could walk straight into a Championship team and stroll through a match against Stoke? I don’t think there’ll be many 18 year old central defenders would be any use in League 2 never mind the Championship.
