What do we think, will he be the subject of a bid in January?

If so whats he worth, what would he go for?

I'll start

1. Yes
2. Worth - 1m
3. Sell 250k with sell on clauses

Anyone know what/who the link with Leeds is, as seems really odd that the last two promising youngsters have both ended up there with little no opposition.

Is Ian Harte not Mccaron’s agent ?

They’ve been spending a bit on young players, signing Galloway and Mccaron for 300k (ish) is hardly a risk to them

So where's the money then......the club have only received some of the McCarron fee so far as reported recently

Very rare an entire fee lands in a oner these days...

I think the Leeds coach in charge of fouling knows Dolly.

Never had Dolly down as a dirty player, certainly not enough to be able to coach Leeds in the art of fouling.

The Elvis legacy may have one positive feature in that Branthwaite is contracted to the end of next season. This does strengthen our hand. Otherwise he would probably be already at Leeds. As it is he is now catching the attention of big clubs.

Worth noting that (I think) the club also have a one-year option on his contract too, so it's effectively 2022.

As soon as interest was being shown in the lad they should have extended his contract. What's our DoF doing to earn his salary

His contract was extended before interest started, at least we got that right. Once the interest starts no player is going to sign a contract extension.

Hopefully we'll get him back o n loan but I doubt it. He'll go on loan to a club in a higher division.

Saying that if you play for crap team you get more practice defending!

I thought he looked a bit out of sorts today and playing within himself. He does look composed but appeared to be under strict instructions not to take the ball forward-one of his strengths.

Made a few mistakes too but he’s only just into the team so probably expecting too much so early.

I was willing him to forge forward like he did at Morecambe but as you say maybe under orders. Yes not as assured as usual yesterday so maybe pressure about his future getting to him and aware scouts were there

I would guess there will be no other 17 year olds playing centre half in the football league
Young players are going to make mistakes are they better making them in front of 4000 in league 2 at a damp Brunton Park or in a Leeds under 21s with no crowd watching ?

We did well to get a penny out of cosgrove he had signed a pre contract agreement with them, also didn't it turn out to be 40k with a sell . That's a lot better than free

Overheard a director say Liverpool & Wolves had been watching him too. A bidding war between interested parties & a loan spell back to us would be the best case scenario.

Southampton would be a great move. Think how much we'd get from the sell on clause when Liverpool pay over the odds for him a couple of years later.

So not only do we have to take their disinterested kids, Newcastle get first dibs on our best players? Smart deal that.

Not being a premiership scout, why is it that Branthwaite is apparently worth 100 times more than Cosgrove was to us, who is now getting sniffed around for apparently millions?

The length of contract we've got him tied to?
The pockets of the club interested?
Some attribute of Branthwaite that makes it look obvious to them he'll be a premiership-level defender?

That’s an appalling deal if true. Even setting aside the fact Sorensen’s been shite.

What if Branthwaite doesn’t want to go to Newcastle and/or gets offered more money elsewhere? Wouldn’t have thought the club could tie his hands like that.

There will be no first refusals. He will go to the club which offer the most, and Branthwaite will have a say where he goes to, too.

First refusal doesn’t mean the lad would have to go there, more likely if it is true that Newcastle will be offered first chance to bid if we say he’s for sale, or if another side come in we have to let them know so they can match or better if they want to...

He'll probably want to stay in the North - kids don't like moving far away from home now.

Think he would be better going to a Championship like Sheff Wed where he will have a better chance of playing rather than rotting in a youth team.

Premier League clubs probably close to their home and still living with their parents.

How many 17 year old move independently to the south from Carlisle? You could probably count them on one hand. Even the minority who actually leave Carlisle to go to University mostly go to Glasgow, Newcastle, Lancaster and Manchester.

If at 17 I was offered a hefty signing on fee and 5-10k a week over five years then I would have walked to whichever club wanted me.

Once you learn that when you are within the four walls of your home then you could be anywhere.

Arsenal and Everton confirmed to be watching him now in addition to those mentioned. It would almost be disappointing if he goes for *only* the rumoured £1m figure that has been mentioned in a few places...

Looking certain he'll go in January so those negotiating any deal really need to earn their money here.
