What do we think, will he be the subject of a bid in January?

If so whats he worth, what would he go for?

I'll start

1. Yes
2. Worth - 1m
3. Sell 250k with sell on clauses

Also given the base fee Exeter received for Ampadu (8 appearances) we should be asking for greater than the 1.3 million they received (they had to go to a tribuneral),

Why should we be asking for more than Exeter received for Ampadu? Is Branthwaite better? Did you see Ampadu play much?

He was in the Wales squad by the time he was 16 and was still at Exeter and he’d represented them at different age groups.

I was saying we should be looking at a similar figure not the millions that people are suggesting.

Aberdeen haven’t had regular Group games in the Champions/Europa Leagues with crowds over 50k though.

Or sold likes of Tierney for approx £25m...

A 17 year old centre back , playing men's football and not looking out of place ?

He'll start a bidding war as the money which will be a fortune for us is nothing for them.

Bournemouth with 10k crowds have a much bigger turnover than Celtic,

Must be well excited the lad - imagine at his age going to sleep at night thinking that firstly there is a good chance of starting at the weekend, the gate will be swelled with scouts going to see him and the clubs interested in signing him are clubs at the top and of high pedigree.

Think you're right Nobby to be fair. Fits the age profile we go for, but tends to be lower cost potential players such as Davies from Morecambe. Stevens from Forest Green (both in and around the first team), and Dalby (now at Watford) and McCarron of course (who seems to be doing well).
Tend to be £150 - 250K type punts, so doubt the £500K - 1M cost suggested is a gamble for a championship side, or at least Leeds, to take.

Spurs have just had a £1.75m bid for Peterborough forward Ricky-Jade Jones knocked back.

17yo, made his debut last month and most of the Premier League watching him already. Sounds familiar?

They’ve been told they may have to go to £10m for him. Never mind Ampadu, this is the barometer now.

It’s mentioned in this link:

The Ampadu one is a different one too, as it went to a tribunal, and Exeter were furious at the outcome. They'd knocked back a 3 million bid from Chelsea, so allowed it to go to a tribunal, and expected more than the 1.3million rising to 2.5 million for him.

I think for Branthwaite we need to be asking for starting bids of 2.5 million, and then whoever wants him can battle it out and bump the price up from there. We're in the driving seat as he is under contract.

Surely it can't be the usual 'undisclosed sum' if there is a bidding war?

This could keep the reluctant trio here for a few more years considering our turnover must be down to around £3m a year now.

The Elvis legacy may have one positive feature in that Branthwaite is contracted to the end of next season. This does strengthen our hand. Otherwise he would probably be already at Leeds. As it is he is now catching the attention of big clubs.

Is Ian Harte not Mccaron’s agent ?

They’ve been spending a bit on young players, signing Galloway and Mccaron for 300k (ish) is hardly a risk to them

I genuinely don't know much about the Leeds youth set up Heilky. I live in Carlisle, so don't have my ear to the ground.
The u-23 set is dominated by Spaniards, which is why I can't see any logic to it.
The thing is with Leeds it used to be that everything got out, but seems to have tightened up.
Sure I read on here someone has a mate who is something to do with the youth set up.

Not sure about the figures CUFC (it is double what they paid for Davis and Stevens), but you are right, they do seem to shop at that level for promising youngsters.
Not sure if Harte is his agent, but would explain why he left Carlisle - he is only interested in his own needs is Harte. He is Jack Clake's agent and was shopping him about after 2 or 3 games.

I know Branthwaite and Mccaron certinally both have the same agent.

By all accounts Mccaron knew he was going Leeds last March / April, when he went I’ve got no doubt he’ll of put in a good word to Galloway.

Can’t see Jared ending up their, they coudnt afford him.

There’s a lot of talent in Cumbria - wise to tap into it, (Carlisle don’t do it well), look at Nick Anderton (Blackpool) and Ben Davies (PNE) for examples.

Ha ha, no just following the takeover and manager threads, and the parallels with Branthwaite and McCarron/Galloway are clear. Usually log on a couple of times a day but bit more time on my hands for a day or two.
Back from a couple of days work abroad, so a bit bored waiting for the proper football to start again. Supposed to be working from home, but shattered after travelling back late.
Mally Poskett gave me one of my best memories following Carlisle, in the Cardiff game.
