If we are serious about promotion and our intent what do we need to do with players we need to recruit and their positions and who do we let go.

No idea on the next one. Not really been any rumours that have any realistic basis.

2.55 next announcement.

I love the fact Bennett is getting to release these on his charity live stream.

Not sure we need much more in all honesty, perhaps a back-up right back given Tanner’s injury. Got a really solid squad with good competition all over the park and the added bonus of only Kayode not being our player. Going by Beech’s preferred line-up in the first half of the season we could field two pretty strong teams

Farman

Tanner
Anderton
Hayden
Bennett

Mellish
Guy
Riley

Kayode
Alessandra
Patrick

Norman

Armer
Feeney
McDonald

Devine
Charters
Furman
Dickenson

Toure
Scott
Zanzala

Well said. I would leave it for now. Start to focus on some longer term planning with extending key contracts. If or when we go up value will go up. Hard to really know where are at financially with covid loss and official EWM situation. Yes we have some Braithwaite and Henderson money, maybe more with Cosgrove but I really want to see us invest in this team and squad. Happy days.

Morgan Feeney is presumably cover for Tanner.

Interesting that he was one Beech wanted last year.

If Zanzala and Scott do well I would hope that they would be offered longer contracts or they could just walk away at the end of the season, especially if we do get promoted as they could be a vital part of the squad next year.

We signed Morgan Feeney who is presumably cover for Tanner.

Feeney is an out and out centre half, more likely to play next to Bennett whilst Hayden covers right back

There's talk that Ethan Walker is coming back here: https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/sources-preston-north-end-set-to-allow-player-to-join-efl-side-once-again/.

It would seem excessive to have Zanzala, Patrick, Toure, Alessandra, Kayode, Dickenson, Scott AND Walker, unless somebody is leaving or long-term injured. That would be eight players competing for three places, plus the likes of Bell coming through as well. The only way it would be needed is if Kayode is going elsewhere or Toure decides to go back to France.

I thought maybe Tour'e going, its been way to quiet about him recently. Sad if true there is a rare talent in there thats capable of tearing defences apart.
All it needs is to get off the mark goals wise to build his confidence.
The covid mess and the fact he had to return to France recently might hint at him leaving.

He's returned on the 30th of December and had to isolate for 2 weeks which meant by the time he could return he couldn't play

It hasn't quite gone the way he would have hoped at the club having been benched after starting well, really like players like him with the flair and skill to turn games fingers crossed he isn't leaving.

I agree that I'm not certain we need Ethan Walker back unless someone else is going.

I don't think Dickenson would be classed as a front three player.

I am not a fan of bloated squads. I am a fan of 2 teams fighting for the shirt with a feel of a family unit, working hard with a mindset they represent their community. Manu squad is bloated and you can never keep people happy. I would love to see Walker back preferably as our player and not on loan. If this does happen sadly it has to be 1 in and one out.

Would be great to get Walker back.
From that little I saw of him he just looked to have that little bit of class and bags of confidence.
He looked just that little bit different to the energy, strength and work rate of the other forwards as well. Good to have some variety.

If Walker is coming back then surely one of the forwards is leaving.

The obvious one is Toure given he’s been struggling with lockdown / homesickness etc. It’d be a shame as he’s a really exciting player on his day but you can’t say we’ll miss his goal contributions as he has very little in the league.

Yes agree with Toure going out. Also judging by CBs comment on the official site, "it's a massive possibility" all defenders are name for their position and versatility. No mention of Max Hunt, and DH said last week that something more might come from his loan spell at Yeovil, so may well be a second departure.

If Tour'e does go for family or personal reasons maybe we will see him back next season if or when all this covid stuff eases.

I like Toure too as he's so unpredictable - for good and for bad - but of the forwards we have, I think he's the most expendable. Scott and Zanzala are new and unknowns in the context of our team, Dickenson fits into that bracket too after injury. Patrick has been excellent of late and is keeping Toure out of the team as his end product is there at the moment, Alessandra has also been excellent and is central to how we play and Kayode fits into that bracket too, along with the threat from his throw ins and the goals starting to pick up.

Unfortunately for Toure, the current first choice front three are undroppable at the moment, scoring goals, creating chances, and increasingly dependable. As exciting as he is, his output has been poor in terms of goals (no goals and one assist for Mellish v Barrow?), he's been sent off twice for lashing out, he's missed several clear-cut chances and his form has really tailed off. I hope he stays as is capable of that bit of magic but you can see why he has never made in in league football before. Of all of our forwards, he's the one we could lose and not really miss on the pitch. I thought he would be the new Zoko, given his early form, but unfortunately he's nowhere near that level at the moment.

I’ve got to say out of the ones I’ve read this seems the most likely yet. Buckley puts a lot of his career down to Beech. Gime put some of his Carlisle highlights up on social media which is suggestive. Hunts a shame but we need to be looking to build a league one team

Hope that the Tour’e rumours are wrong but won’t surprise me if he does go. I seem to remember Zoko taking nearly a full season to settle and actually being less than happy when Abbott dropped him and made him play in a Cumberland cup match.
If Tour’e does go because of the present COVID restrictions and not being able to see his family in France it would be fully understandable,if that is the case hope the club leave the door open for him to come back when things get back to normal, whenever that might be.
